HYPERYOUTH
DANCING IS MANDATORY.
This page is dedicated to one of my favorite artist duos, Joey Valence & Brae! The layout for this page is based off of their 2025 album HYPERYOUTH, which happens to be my personal favorite project of theirs. I hope you learn something from this page and possibly end up loving them as much as I do :)
- Made by Soph of soph.gayWho the hell are Joey Valence & Brae, anyway?
Joey Valence & Brae are an American hip-hop duo from State College, Pennsylvania, consisting of rappers Joseph Bertolino (Joey Valence) and Braedan Lugue (Brae). Their single "Punk Tactics" went viral in 2022. They have since released three studio albums, Punk Tactics, No Hands, and Hyperyouth in 2023, 2024, and 2025 respectively.

In other words, they're this super cool duo who makes really 90s-esque Beastie Boys type stuff. They also make a lot of club music, that's kind of their main shtick, but they started off with the 90s hip-hop thing.
They debuted with the song Crank It Up. Joey submitted the song for a Penn State talent show. The prize was $10K, and they ended up winning :p
Like the Wikipedia article said, the song that really launched them into 'fame" was Punk Tactics. It was a huge hit all over TikTok around 2022, and this was how I personally discovered their music. It wasn't until their most recent album, HYPERYOUTH, that I started becoming a huge fan, though.
Top 3 JVB Songs
My top 3 JVB songs are . . .
1. LIVE RIGHT: This track makes me feel a whole bunch of nostalgia. I think the theme of being afraid to grow up is really relatable. I'm still young, I have time left, but what happens when it's over? What happens when everybody else has accepted that they must inevitably become adults? Being able to listen to a song about that fear provides a huge sense of comfort.
2. DISCO TOMORROW: DISCO TOMORROW gets me kind of emotional. As the last track of their album HYPERYOUTH, it serves as a farewell. I think the reason it gets me emotional is the line, "...then I met Joey and I finally found my spark..." I think Joey & Brae meeting eachother and becoming so close is honestly awesome. My cutie patooties.
3. WASSUP: SO FUCKING PEAK. I love WASSUP and I think it was the first song off this album that really stuck with me. Joey & Brae aren't necessarily known for.. good lyrics.. So hearing them go off like crazy on this track was insane to me. Also the Peggy feature? Literally so dope.

Joey or Brae?
Between the two, my favorite would have to be Brae :p
He is so freaking cute but he looked so intimidating when I first saw him. I knew who Joey was and I thought he was the cooler one but then I started listening to their music more and becoming more of a fan and eventually I realized that Brae is the one who stands out more to me.
In terms of talent, I think Joey might win there.. Brae is okay at rapping but Joey is really, really good at producing. They are two completely different skills so theres not really a way to compare the two by those factors alone, but I do think Brae just hasnt channeled his full potential.
In terms of looks... Brae is just the cuter one, sorry. Take the image above as an example. Such a cutie patootie. But he's also like a grown ass man so I should probably check myself.
